The 2016 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a blockbuster of a wine, opening with explosive aromas of crushed red currants, Chambord, and black tea leaf; enveloped in layers of sweet cigar box and cocoa beans. The full-bodied palate displays flavors of macerated blackberries and blueberries with hints of graphite and dried herbs, leading to a dense tannin structure and long and bright finish. This wine exhibits both power and elegance and has the ageing potential of 15 or more years. Possibly the finest example of a wine produced off the estate property to date.
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits brighter and fresher tones than its bigger brother the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Initially aromas of bright red fruit pop out of the glass with notes of raspberry and cherry up front, followed by hints of baking spice, leather, and wet stone. A combination of light and dark tones on the palate delight all the senses. Subtle oak notes of cedar and vanilla lift and frame the core fruits flavors of plum, blackberry, and black cherry. With polished tannins and a long and bright finish, this wine is meant to be enjoyed in the coming years but will age well over time.
Ready to drink now, vibrant aromatics contain notes of fresh-cut pineapple, quince, and apricot followed by subtle hints of lemon blossom, beeswax, and vanilla bean. Tickling the palate are tart flavors of green apple, kiwi and lime zest complimented by caramelized grapefruit and honey. A wine with a beautiful depth and texture whose racy acidity is balanced with a restrained oak influence, it’s ready for immediate enjoyment but will continue to evolve for years to come.
